When Donald Trump returned to Butler, Pennsylvania, he rallied his supporters with his usual rhetoric Another example is the attempted assassination incident at a rally for the Republican Party on July 13, 2024, at a Pennsylvania event attended by Trump. There were several cases, in the 17th century, which he failed to mention that the assassination of the Protestant leader Thomas Matthew Crooks happened. However, in the context of Trump and Crook the same can be witnessed where it is recorded that Crook has been described as a “lunatic” while Trump described him as a “evil assassin”. This situation might explain that Trump could avoid giving Crook further attention rather than letting him be portrayed in a certain way as a killer. Some people express their opinion that this strategy is unlikely to work and it would be counterproductive.
The incident was recorded when Trump was at the Butler rally. But, his head was a bit sore due to an eye blast from an exploding bullet in one ear and he was still doing his protests. However, after this, the president has used somewhat less expressive words when discussing this issue, and instead mentioned qualities such as courage, determination, and faith. The same day, Trump told how he could be assured given the blood on his hand – attributing his survival to God. His message on the subject was recycled when he campaigned under the name of being a hero of democracy.
Therefore, despite Trump making references to Crooks as a part of a larger issue, people do not understand the core of the problem he is facing at the present. The nephew of Fred C. Trump III stated that the shooter could be used to help the nephew’s political aspirations if the situation favored him. Nevertheless, the circumstance that Crooks’ record remained unclear – for example, a minor incident involving the time of the contest, although not politically related, became known that. Thus, one cannot put him in the box of ‘Trump’ or any candidate in the elections. However, in an interview, the current Director of FBI Christopher Wray observed that Crooks does not identify with any given set of principles, which makes it even more challenging to engage in the discussion.
On the other hand, before that a second assassination plot was hatched by a 58-year old Democratic campaign contributor Ryan Routh along with a crime being revealed by the media straight away. Police stopped Routh after a car chase he started after Trump’s alleged attempted murder at Mar-a-Lago golf club in Florida. The same time, with Trump and his followers including his running mate JD Vance having mentioned this he very explicitly blamed the Democratic campaign messages. These two individuals were presidential candidates and Trump had some political objectives to achieve and consequently, how he was going to deal with them. As for Crooks’s profile, there was a certain amount of controversy surrounding it, and he can be classified as a person who was trying to make a difference in a manner that was regarded as radical. Routh, on the other hand, is portrayed as a right-wing individual whose language and actions were considered wrong in a way that aligns with the left-wing movement.
This indicates that Trump has successfully utilised this media to maintain political capital, which is pertinent to this aspect of a media campaign. Due to his propensity to multitask while listening to various conversations, it becomes challenging to determine whether he intentionally guides the discussion toward certain topics or keeps them free-flowing. On the other hand, when naming Routh, he is trying to conform to the plans of his adversaries for labeling Democrats as enemies in his campaign.
Even when this manipulation occurred politically, the incident will remain in mind and perhaps influence Trump’s followers in the future. Most of his marches now feature improved protection measures like bulletproof glass and massive cheering crowds that support him. The assassin of Trump has used his story in a different way to become a part of his future presidential campaign.
Trump’s decision not to talk to the president about his motives is one that indicates he does not intend to provide clear and transparent communication. It seems though that the president would like to lead the conversation and shift the narrative in such a manner that is consistent with what might be expected from his approach.
