President-elect Donald Trump has announced that 27-year-old Karoline Leavitt will serve as his White House press secretary, making her one of the youngest individuals to hold this influential role. In a statement, Trump praised her, saying, “Karoline is smart, tough, and has proven to be a highly effective communicator. I have the utmost confidence she will excel at the podium and help deliver our message to the American people.”

Leavitt served as Trump’s national press secretary during his recent campaign and previously worked as an assistant press secretary during his first term in office. Her journey into politics began during her time at Saint Anselm College in Manchester, New Hampshire, a significant shift from her upbringing in a middle-class business family. Speaking on a Fox News podcast, Leavitt shared, “I didn’t grow up in a political family. I dove into politics during my college years.”

In addition to her work for Trump, Leavitt ran for a seat in the U.S. House of Representatives from New Hampshire in 2022 but was unsuccessful. She also served as communications director for Congresswoman Elise Stefanik, a prominent Trump ally recently nominated as the next U.S. ambassador to the United Nations.

Leavitt’s appointment underscores Trump’s focus on youthful leadership within his administration. Notably, she gave birth to her first child in July, just months before the election, demonstrating her ability to balance professional and personal responsibilities.

As White House press secretary, Leavitt will act as the face of the administration, addressing the media and shaping public perception of the president’s policies. Her appointment is expected to bring a fresh perspective to the role, though her relative youth and limited experience may draw both interest and scrutiny.
