16 soldiers were killed in a suicide bomb attack in Yemen pro-government soldiers and injuries to 18 others. The attack occurred on Friday in the Mudiya district at a military checkpoint.
The attack took place in Mudiyah district on Friday. The attacker was in a car. It exploded as soon as it arrived in front of the outpost, said Mohamed Al Naqeeb, spokesman for Yemen’s southern separatist command Southern Transitional Council (STC).
AQAP, established in 2009, has used the chaotic conditions of Yemen’s civil war to expand its operations. This incident is part of a broader pattern of AQAP targeting military checkpoints and government forces in Yemen. In March of this year, AQAP carried out a similar bombing on a military checkpoint, killing two soldiers .
